City Hall Display January 2011

on display, originally uploaded by ebbandflo_pomomama.

Just before January runs away on us, let's not forget to pay a visit to the display case at City Hall in Port Moody.
Sometimes it is just one artist who is featured; mostly it's a good selection of work by the Blackberry Artist's Society members. The display changes every month, thanks to the supervision of Margret Billings.
So next time you're visiting the library, or paying a municipal bill, check out the display cases. They're on the landing level of the stairs opposite the city council reception desk.

Spring Greens (Keep The Faith)

spring greens

Please note, this is a scheduled post. If the weather is being unseasonable please ignore the text, drool over the artwork, and go back to the beach volleyball. Thank you.

In these dark, dank, cold, miserable days of winter it is so difficult to imagine that just around the corner, and inches below the surface of the snow, the little green shoots of spring are forming. Tiny and tight little buds of new growth are just biding their time to come bursting into the world.

Especially in our gloomy temperate rainforest environment, it's forgivable to believe that spring is a myth, an impossible event drowned under the many (many) inches of depressing rainfall (or snow if the temperature has really plummeted).

Spring is almost here. Keep the faith.

Winter Blahs

the blues

We have the blues and the blahs at this time of year. Low light levels, challenging weather, and a surfeit of festive candies do not improve the mood.
We also have the blues in the gift shop, however, ours won't cause the blahs.
Guaranteed :)

the blues

In fact, they will probably banish them instead (there's nothing like a bit of handcrafted local art for a post-christmas treat). Owning a handmade, locally crafted blue piece of art is a recognised treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder .....

OK, I made that last bit up but why not visit the gift shop to look at the pretty blue stuff?
