Christmas 101: quirky postable gifts

Yes, we have quirky gifts which will also ship easily :)
Not everyone is able to just hand the wrapped gift person-to-person, so at Blackberry Gift Shop we like to make things easy for you.
Why not send some cute buttons, a few ceramic fabric fasteners or maybe a glass jewel magnet to your not-nearest and dearest this festive season?

Christmas 101: shipping gifts

Some fortunate souls have their nearest and dearest close to hand, thus avoiding lengthy queuing at the postal outlets or lose/lose fights with sticky tape or parcel string.
For the rest of us, might I suggest some of the smaller and easily packaged gifts you will fund (in abundance) in the gift shop.
We have jewellery.
We have tiny ceramic tasting pots.
We have exquisite felted flowers.
We have luxurious handwoven and handknitted scarves for flat packing.
We have miniature tree ornaments (yes, even for miniature trees!).
... and don't forget our beautiful cards, gift bags and gift tags.
A one-stop gift shop for the globally scattered.

Featured Artist at City Hall: Cathy Rycroft

This month artist Cathy Rycroft has a great display of her animal portraits in the cases on the staircase landing at City Hall (just pop up the stairs opposite the city hall reception desk).

If you haven't seen her work before (shame on you!) you will be in for a marvellous treat. Cathy captures such vivid expressions on the faces of her subject. As well as painting on traditional surfaces, Cathy is also well known for using cut and polished slabs of stone as her canvas. For explanation, check out the display shelves! but be quick - the pieces are selling fast.

Remembrance

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
         In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
         In Flanders fields.

Driftwood sculptor, Pat de Couto, has very generously made this lovely fellow available to you (yes, you). All you need to do is visit the gallery and fill in one of our customer experience forms with your details, signing up to our mailing list, and this natty chap could be hanging on your wall come the new year :)

No-vember

No sun--no moon!
No morn--no noon!
No dawn--no dusk--no proper time of day--
No sky--no earthly view--
No distance looking blue--

No road--no street--
No "t'other side the way"--
No end to any Row--
No indications where the Crescents go--

No top to any steeple--
No recognitions of familiar people--
No courtesies for showing 'em--
No knowing 'em!

No mail--no post--
No news from any foreign coast--
No park--no ring--no afternoon gentility--
No company--no nobility--

No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member--
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds,
November!
