This month, photographer Sarah Ronald has a display of her work on show on our walls.
Her work features mostly scenes from nature but often drawing the eye to a little quirk or detail which, as a casual observer, you might miss.
Her work is a beautiful complexity of colour and framing, and not what could be called traditional in its setting. Sarah prints up all her own pieces, using a process called dye sublimation that results in a durable surface whatever the medium.
You can find her images on bookmarks, mirror compacts, business card holders and mousepads - a stunning way to lift the ordinary and domestic into an artistic statement for everyday life.

February's featured artist: Amanda Maxwell
February's featured artist in the gift shop is Amanda Maxwell, one of our jewelry designers and also (in the interests of full disclosure) the writer of these blog posts.
It will therefore not surprise you to know that Amanda is an artist extraordinaire, whose delightful creations bring light and beauty to the shelves of the gift shop ... and unique style to the necks and wrists of those who choose to adorn themselves.
... please do check out the gift shop to see if her/my display of wire/metal/fibre wearable art is worth the hyperbole :)

February at City Hall
This month, jewelry artist extraordinaire Urszula Petrykowska has filled the shelves of the display case with all sorts of fantastical pieces.
Just take a wander up the stairs to the main council offices and check out her work in the mezzanine display cabinet. It is well worth a side trip from the library.
As usual, all work is for sale; just phone the gift shop on 604 931 2008 ext. 2 (please leave a message) to arrange purchase.
