September's Featured Artist: Pat de Couto
September is almost over, and in the back-to-school rush I've had no time to blog about featured artist Pat de Couto's amazing work in the gift shop.
You've seen it previously in the blog but not in the premier spot.
Pat's work is gorgeous. I've watched sculpting the faces that peek out from chunks of driftwood and still cannot get over the amazement of seeing inanimate come to life.
Enjoy the slideshow, and don't forget to visit the shop!

.. summer good bye?
intarsia by Del Holbrook |
Like all good things, summer eventually comes to an end.
Shake the sand out of the luggage, sweep it out of the car, pour it out of the sandals ... one last time.
Pack up the seaside buckets.
Prop the souvenirs up on the shelf.
Fold up the relaxed linen trousers.
Summer good bye!

Artists under a tent: Port Moody Farmer's Market Sept 6
Tom Reid and Pauline Doyle dishing out the craftivism outside Port Moody Arts Centre last year |
Want some more 'artists in your midst' action? under canvas? whittling? - well maybe not the whittling.
Blackberry Artist's Society is pleased to support Artist Day at Port Moody Farmer's Market on Friday, September 6th. Three of our members, Del Holbrook, Jane Ostenstad and er, me will be taking turns in the hot seat, showing how we translate our creative thoughts into action.
There will be work for sale, and more information on the society, including our upcoming Christmas Marketplace (opens November 14th - save the date).
So, if you want to speak to a real life artist, or find out about joining our society, or simply want to watch some cool crafting action then why not drop by Port Moody Rec Centre between 3pm and 7pm.
Please say hi!
