I Know It's Paper ..... But Is It Art?

detail from paper art by Joan Marr
Tut tut! It most definitely is, my dear.

And we have some incredible handmade paper art by artist Joan Marr, in addition to our handy selection of artist gift cards.
This isn't your school's flat painting paper either; it's a lumpy, bumpy 3-D textured fantasy landscape of pressed pulp.

Too Much Jewelry

wire wrap ring by Urszula Petrykowska

IMO we have a very concise collection of jewelry available in the gift shop, ranging from unique hand carved stone through luxurious beaded items and quirky wire crochet to amazing metalwork.

There's truly something for every taste.

There are items to complete that formal outfit to paint the town red on a Saturday night, everyday "go to's" to make that casual ensemble stand out from the crowd, and precious sentimentals to gift as a "thank you".
All colours, all styles, all unique and hand made locally.
Happy shopping.

September's Featured Artist: Tracy Riddell

This month's featured artist in the Blackberry Giftshop is talented photographic artist, Tracy Riddell.
I'm not usually a blogger of few words but in this case I'll let the glorious intensity of Tracy's work speak for itself.

If you adore the kind of nature photography that immediately has you immersed within the picture please do visit the gift shop during September to check out her work (and buy some to take home with you!)

PS: today is also the last chance to catch the Summer Travels display at the Arts Centre.

Tales from Summer Travels

Pssst! Last chance to see our exhibition (and make your purchase) is this Saturday, 4th September!

Work from twenty of the Blackberry Artists is showcased for the summer in the Plum Gallery display case of the arts centre in Port Moody. Our group show is on the theme Summer Travels, and some of the pieces on display have some interesting stories with them.

This beautiful scarf from weaver Beryl Hickinbottom developed as the result of a workshop she took.

"The black and gold scarf is of merino and lycra.   This is technique I learned recently from New Zealand weaver Anne Field,   who taught workshops at Capilano University in May.   The scarf is woven 11" wide and when washed in hot water the lycra shrinks pulling the wool into pleats."
