June's featured artist: Vicki Allesia
This month the Blackberry Gift Shop is featuring the work of Vicki Allesia.
Vicki, who is a founding member of the Blackberry Artist's Society and former Executive Director of Port Moody Arts Centre, works in acrylics and watercolour media. She draws inspiration from her surroundings, either trips along the board walk on Port Moody's Inlet Trail or while relaxing at her cabin on Indian Arm. The work displayed in the gift shop features the use of wrapped canvases - a beautifully modern and contemporary introduction to presenting 2D art which would look fabulous in many modern home decors.
Her work is a very distinctive and fresh take on many familiar and well-loved scenes in and around our home city. Even though summer is being a little sluggish in coming forward, I for one am longing for a heavy snowfall so I can get out for a walk on a snow-covered board walk this winter.
